November is here, which signals the beginning of the high season for tourism and travel in Belize. To celebrate, tripadvisor is offering special pricing on flights from Toronto to Belize. Growing numbers of Canadians are visiting the country, and tripadvisor has now made it more accessible than ever. But tourists are not all that’s keeping Belizeans busy this month. The November 4th general elections marked some historic firsts for Belize. Prime Minister Dean Barrow was elected to an unprecedented third term, and upon naming his cabinet, made history again when he named Vanessa Retreage as the nation’s first female Attorney General. The elections were overseen by The Organization of American States (OAS), and were held peacefully with a 71% voter turnout. The Grand Baymen team and I offer congratulations to the UDP and all its representatives on their success.
Tourism is of course in the news as well this month. The Belize Tourism Board has declared November 29th as Small Country Sunday, a spin-off of the popular Small Business Sunday in the United States, meant to encourage tourism to small countries such as Belize. Belize is moving in leaps and bounds both internationally and domestically, and representatives from the BTB and Beltraide are working to highlight the opportunities for investment, residency, and adventure in Belize. Their efforts are aided by a recent study showing that Belize’s real estate prices remain well below those of comparable Caribbean destinations, reaffirming its status as a prime investment opportunity.
Our Grand Baymen Oceanside condos, which will be part of the first branded hotel on Ambergris Caye, are selling fast, especially now that Beltraide has declared that a branded hotel on the island is one of their top investment opportunities in all of Belize. With the remodeled San Pedro Fitness Club and pool now open at Grand Baymen, the ECI community is opening doors on Ambergris Caye like never before. If you’ve been considering living or investing in Belize, we invite you to come experience for yourself what the buzz is all about.
I highly recommend visiting Grand Baymen and living the island life for a time as a renter. Nothing beats on-the-ground experience, and now is the best time for those interested to get into the Ambergris Caye market. It certainly won’t be “Under the Radar” for long.
