Whether you are planning a vacation to the scenic country of Belize or you are considering full time residence there, one of your primary concerns may be travel.
Thankfully, getting to Belize from virtually anywhere in the United States is a breeze, and direct flights are readily available from countless cities. Discover just how simple it can be to arrange and enjoy trips between Belize and an array of destinations within the United States.
Current Carriers and Flights
Today, there are at least four major airlines that operate between cities in the United States and Belize City. The largest airport in Belize is Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport, which is located just a 30-minute drive from Belize City, and most airlines transporting passengers from the United States as well as other international destinations land there.
American Airlines currently flies to the Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport from Miami and Dallas Fort/Worth, and Delta Air Lines also has flights coming in from Los Angeles and Atlanta. US Airways flies from Charlotte, and United Airlines boasts flights coming from Chicago-O'Hare, Newark and Houston-Intercontinental.
New Destinations to be Added
Although there are already lots of flights available from travelers coming to Belize from the Southeastern United States, the West Coast and the East Coast, new destinations are currently being added.
This allows more travelers to have a direct flight, allowing them to arrive in the beautiful destination of Belize as quickly as possible and with as few connecting flights as possible. Before 2015 ends, travelers will be able to catch a direct flight on American Airlines from Los Angeles to Belize as well as on Southwest Airlines from Houston to Belize.
In 2016 and beyond, carriers will likely offer even more destinations, allowing residents of the United States to quickly head to Belize for a quick getaway or allowing retirees in Belize to come back to America to see friends and family for holidays and special occasions.
Currently, there is only one airport offering international flights to and from Belize. However, there are 19 other airports within the country that offer domestic flights. Since foreign investors as well as the Belize government are putting money into the development of local infrastructure, it will not be long until these domestic airports also offer international flights.
Travelers who want to go directly to places like Ambergris Caye, for example, could be able to land right at the San Pedro Airport from major cities in the United States. As the nation's infrastructure expands, so will the number of available flights to Belize.
Rising Tourism Rates Translates to Increased Number of Flights
Travel between the United States and Belize is already a simple process allowing visitors from America to explore the best of Central America as well as providing a quick route home to those who have retired in Belize.
As great as the travel routes already are, however, they are bound to improve thanks to rising tourism numbers and development. As more people discover what Belize has to offer, they will continue to visit in large numbers as well as purchase property in developments like the Grand Baymen. As this happens, flights can only increase in number and destination.
Traveling between Belize and the United States is easier than ever. Direct flights are available throughout America to Belize City, and the number of destinations only continues to grow as tourism increases.
