As the National Elite Basketball League continues, the Tigersharks have shown San Pedro Town that theyÂre not a one trick pony by picking up their second win.  As they went into round three, this time against Corozal Heats, a large crowd gathered at San Pedro High School Angel Nunez Auditorium. As the Tigersharks took the game with a 79-54 win, there was a huge celebration.
On Saturday February 22nd, the third round of the basketball league took place, this time having headed back to Ambergris Caye for a home game. Â It was the Corozal Heats who opened up the scoreboard first, with Jason Grant managing to get the first basket of the game to score a two-point lead. Â However, the Tigersharks hit back and were soon up 3-2 after Tyron Edwards won a three-point shot. Â The second quarter saw Geovani Lennon of the Heats push ahead once again, but after that it was the Tigersharks who swam away with the points, scoring time and time again and widening the gap between them and their competitors.
At halftime there was the opportunity for fans to get their hands on some official Tigersharks T-shirts, heightening the crowds passion for their team.  As the game began again, the Garifuna drummers arrived to add extra excitement to the atmosphere, and soon the Tigersharks fans were all cheering: ÂOh Corozal, you know about the TIGER, Oh Corozal, you know about the SHARK Go TIGERSHARKS.Â
The chanting seemed to have a positive effect, for the home team quickly began scoring more points and by the end of the third quarter the point lead had increased to 20, with the Tigersharks leading 55-35. Â As the fourth quarter started, the Corozal HeatÂs were obviously demoralized, and the Tigersharks took advantage of this to continue scoring. Â Eventually the Tigersharks took their second win of the league and sent the opposition packing.
The latest victory will cement San PedroÂs Tigersharks place in the tournament even more and show that theyÂre putting everything into their campaign in a bid to win national recognition for their achievements.  The home game is likely to invigorate many youngsters too, with a lot of kids keen to try their hands at basketball.  With many more games of the National Elite Basketball League to come, itÂs likely that interest will only increase.
