Staying physically fit is important in a beach community. There are numerous ways to stay fit while living on Ambergris Caye Island. Fitness buffs can walk the trails, run along the beach, swim in the ocean or join a gym. Most activities in Ambergris Caye will meet the guidelines for physical fitness. Let’s take a look at some ways fitness buffs can enjoy the island without spending exorbitant amounts of money.

San Pedro Fitness Club

The Grand Baymen community is a 10 minute walk from the San Pedro area. Fitness buffs can enjoy the San Pedro Fitness Club and Gym on their daily trip into town. Currently, this is the only fitness club on Ambergris Caye Island, but its comprehensive services and size is enough to accommodate the residents of the area.

While this is not the least expensive form of physical fitness, the fitness club still has some affordable pricing. Many residents join the gym for the days when it is too hot or when inclement weather occurs. Some view the gym as a social place to meet people.

Residents are often found working on their beach bodies at the fitness club when not engaging in beach activities. The fitness club includes a gym, tennis courts and pool. There are also classes, such as yoga, Tae Bo, Tae Chi, aerobics and personal training, to help people maintain their physiques.

When residents cannot enjoy the beach or would simply prefer laps in a pool, they can enjoy the 250,000 gallon pool, which is the largest and deepest pool on the island. A kid’s pool is available for children to engage in physical fitness. People can also sunbathe on the spacious sundecks at the fitness center. A roof terrace is also available to watch the sunset prior to retreating home after a rigorous workout.

Walk The Beach or the Trails

One of the least expensive ways to become physically fit is to walk, jog or run along the beach or the trails. The wild life in the area is incredible. People will enjoy exercising while experiencing one of the most beautiful areas in the Americas. The scenery is often motivation for some people to exercise more. If you are searching for inexpensive and motivational ways to exercise, beach-walking and trail-walking are viable solutions.

Swim, Snorkel or Dive

Most people live near Ambergris Caye, typically, because they love to dive, snorkel and enjoy island living. These activities will also help people remain physically fit. Many people take weekly trips to engage in these activities. Swimming works most of the muscles in the body for a total body work out. People who want to remain physically fit should consider adding swimming to their fitness regimen. This form of exercise places less impact on the joints.
