Moving to Belize is an attractive option for many living in North America. There are number of factors that make retiring in Belize a fantastic step to take, and a lot of people have left the shores of the U.S. to start a new life in this Central American location. Now, the mayor of Ambergris Caye’s San Pedro Town, Daniel Guerrero, has offered up some great advice for those who are considering the overseas move.

Major Guerrero took the opportunity to talk about Belize first, explaining that the country is a melting pot of cultures. This allows any individual to embark on a new life in the nation with the knowledge they will be accepted into the diverse community. It also means that residents will find a huge variety of food, dance, music and traditions right on their doorstep

“We welcome people from all over. Belizeans are very warm people,” Mayor Guerrero explained. “They’re very friendly. The food is great, the water is great, and I can say that we are very blessed as a country and as a people living in this country. It is very peaceful, very laid back, and we have offshore banking, commercial banks, and local banks. We have credit unions and cooperatives. We have everything that a huge nation has, just on a smaller scale.”

Talking about investment practices, the Mayor of San Pedro Town explained that proposals are always welcomed. However, individuals are advised to do some research before they initiate investment plans, with Mayor Guerrero saying that it is important for people to think of the environment and ensure that any proposal takes the local economy and natural landscape into consideration.

In particular, the mayor explained that it is important for people to understand they are leaving their native way of life and need to fully accept and embrace new cultures and a different way of doing things. For those who land in Belize and try to carry on as if they were at home, matters can be made difficult and more complicated than they need to be.

Belize is an extremely exciting place for people to relocate to, and for many people, the promise of a new culture and a changed way of life is extremely attractive. However, for those intent on starting afresh, following the mayor’s advice to embrace a different way of doing things is a good point to consider.
