Mister Belize is a famed individual amongst those living in Belize, and Rigo VellosÂs face is one that most people recognize. Â Now, Vellos, who has won Mister Belize on two back-to-back occasions, has also taken the trophy at the largest regional bodybuilding event; the Revolution Cup.
On Sunday, November 24th, the 2013 Revolution Cup Bodybuilding Competition was held in Mexico. Â A popular part of the Yucatan Festival in Xmatkuil, Merida, the event is the largest competition in the region and attracts male and female bodybuilders from the Caribbean and across Central America. Â As an extremely popular celebrity, Vellos was invited to participate in the competition, and dominated it with his muscular physique.
Vellos has been working out since he was 16 and living in his home town of Corozal; a place where he still lives to this day and can be regularly spotted pulling weights at Corozal TownÂs Spartan Gym.  It didnÂt take Vellos long to start winning titles, and in 2009 he gained his first title when he won the Belize Bodybuilding and Fitness Federations Mister Belize Bodybuilding Competition by participating in the Junior Class.  He went on to win the nationÂs top honor of Mister Belize in 2012 and defended his title again this year, taking the accolade of Mister Belize for a second time.  Vellos has found international fame too, traveling to Colchester in the United Kingdom on May 11th, 2013, to compete in the Hercules Olympia Bodybuilding Competition.  Competing in the Tall Class category, he took the international stage by storm and walked away with second place.
At the Revolution Cup, Vellos joined the 80 kilograms and over category, competing alongside a dozen other individuals from a variety of nations.  Talking of the event and his defining win, Vellos said: ÂIt makes me feel so good that all my hard work and discipline paid off.  I worked hard and aimed to go to Merida to make my country proud.  The win was a big surprise.  There were several good competitors that shared my same physique, but in the end it was all up to the judges to make the last call.  Talking of his future, Vellos revealed that he wanted to take some time to rest and prepare for the forthcoming year.  He added that the association already has a 2014 schedule in place, with Vellos competing in several international competitions.
