Ambergris Caye is always an excellent vacation spot during the summer. Summer months present a multitude of activities and unique opportunities for celebration. Here's a look at some of the upcoming seasonal events.

June

San Pedro Lobster Fest – The nine-day festival opens on Saturday, June, 15, 2013, and extends through Sunday, June 23, 2013. The festival features scrumptious Caribbean Spiny Lobster, which is indigenous to the waters surrounding Ambergris Caye.

An ongoing block party engulfs the town as restaurants and bars compete for the best lobster dish designation. Patrons from all over the world are allured by colorful sights, music, dancing, fun activities, contests and delicious food. This festival has been listed in Frommer's 300 Unmissable World Events.
Dia de San Pedro – San Pedro's annual town tradition includes the celebration of the island's patron saint, Peter. Visitors enjoy captivating cultural, religious and festive activities. They begin nine days before the 29th of June and are a local favorite.

On the 10th night, traditional Mestizo, Hog Head, Bottle, El Torito and El Degoyote dances are accompanied by live marimba music and bands signifying the beginning of the fun. Firework displays, communal cook-offs, international folklore performances and local entertainers are mainstays of this festival.

July

Benque Viejo del Carmen Fiesta – One of the largest festivals in Belize is this Our Lady of Mount Carmel celebration. In honor of the town's patroness, thousands converge on the city to enjoy 10 days of activities. Carnival-type games line the streets of Belize, affording entertainment for everyone. This year will be the 46th annual festivity.

August

Costa Maya Festival – Confirmation for the 2013 International Costa Maya Festival has been made by the local organizing committee. The four-day event will begin on August 1, 2013, and end on August 4, 2013. The biggest festival in San Pedro will usher in the new Costa Maya Queen, Miss Panama, Karen Jordan, who will be crowned at the celebration. Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Belize will host countries from all over the world

Tres Pescados Slam Fishing Tournament – This three-day fly-fishing tournament takes place August 15 through 17. Sport fishermen representing nearly every country will enjoy this catch-and-release bonefish competition. A highlight of the tournament is the Casting Master banquet, which is held on August 14, 2013. Spectators can watch master fly-fishermen at their best and enjoy related games and activities.
